Hard water deposits are calcium and magnesium compounds — the dissolved mineral content of Metropolitan Water District imported water. They come from your irrigation system, not from the ocean. When sprinklers run, some water overspray lands on glass, evaporates, and leaves mineral residue.

Why marine layer season makes it worse

Visible haze (weeks 4–16)
